Domingo de Veracruz
A bard torn between loyalties.
In keeping with our theme I was thinking the dwarves come out of their mountain mines on the West coast after theAge of Glass. Dwarves being hearty industrious and rich based on ready supplies of gold silver and jewels start to buy up or otherwise take and redevelop the remaining are able land. They create a Spanish like feudal system. The nobles and courtiers ate mostly dwarves with some very rich humans and Dons. Most of the Dons are humans because they can work the peons and adapt to life outside the Mine Empire of the Dwarves. Thus their is a symbiotic and political relationship between the noble and the Dons who are mostly human. Dwarves still use gunpowder simple cannon and hand arms. On very rare occaisionns they open anew pocket and fine an armory or just a single weapon. This leads to two main ides are the weapons one shot or are they fond? If found thenI might suggest ak47s because they might survive and Glocks as handguns. If that is too GammaWorld or realistic an old Colt six shooter is fun but how do you explain the gap in tech? crops grown are gold beans (corn), bacca, and whey. Obviously these crops are needed for the drinking and smoking pleasure of the dwarf noble and Dons.
My. Character is from the Don class. His father is Don Aljehondo de Vera Cruz. His father owns thousand or acts famed by peons. He collects the Empires taxes and is a loyal and faithful sevant to the dwarves in this mountain vastness. Dad aspires to a Countship or Dukedom. My character is his only surviving son and a bit of a black sheep. He resents his fathers toadyism. Also he feels that his father wishes his other sons had lived to inherent. While trained in the classic rapier fighting style of the West Mountains by the finest dwarf and human tutors. Domingo de Veracruz is more like his mother. Beautiful, witty and a bit of a show off. Dad crowed on his antics, cockanship and rebellion. Don Domingo refuses to use his title and has run away from his responsibilities as his father sees it to take up the life of a bard. Domingo is use to the best of eve thing but feels guilt for all the prvilidge. I imagine he might be a little adverse to the dwarf character but he is used to dwarves and their ways and he would surel admire the fact of a gunslinging traveling dwarf. While Domingo learned from the first masters singers and actors of his age he also learned at his mothers knee the ways and songs of the dwarves and peons. His mother was repute to be a bit of a witch. She was a peon. Thus even his dad is a bi of a rebel. They are more alike than either will admit. His secret wish is to sign in the grea hall of the deaf emperor of the plight of the peons and bring him to tears.
